Nicole Schmitt

Lab Assistant
Nicole Schmitt is a pelvic health physiotherapist and clinic owner of Elle Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health in Red Deer, Alberta. Her practice and team have grown to include satellite locations throughout rural Alberta including Three Hills, Rocky Mountain House and Olds. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 and has worked in a variety of private practice settings since. Her deep dive into pelvic health began in 2014 after the birth of her 4 kids when she became acutely aware of the massive need for women’s health rehabilitation. Nicole’s clinical areas of practice include pelvic floor dysfunction, treatment for prolapse and pessary prescription, pediatric bowel and bladder concerns, and the treatment of endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain. Although her pelvic health training includes a wide variety of conditions, her very favourite is working alongside clients with sexual pain disorders and those women feeling the very heavy load of kids, work, caring for others and trying to balance it all. Education is empowerment and being a small part of someone’s journey to wellness is an immense privilege.
Nicole is the current Chair of the Central Alberta Women’s Health Association which includes a multi-disciplinary team of care providers interested in identifying the unmet health needs in the community as well as facilitating a collaborative referral and learning team in Central Alberta. She has provided pelvic health training to many community organizations, family medicine clinics as well as midwifery, urology and gynecology teams within Central Alberta. Nicole has also had the opportunity to provide mentorship to many new pelvic health physiotherapists.
When not working or learning, Nicole can most often be found driving around kids to any number of sporting activities, snuggled up with a good book, walking or hiking outdoors or hanging out with her husband.
