Male Masterclass & Evil Triplets Nov 2020
Although there has been a huge growth in interest in male pelvic health over the past decade, with a growing body of research to match, there is still a lack of pelvic rehab practitioners to treat men with pelvic health issues. This one day Masterclass is designed to give the physiotherapist confidence and a skillset in treating men, particularly in the areas of pelvic pain, bladder and erectile dysfunction and pre and post-prostatectomy recovery. Which skills are transferable for female pelvic health? Which aren’t? How to communicate effectively about sensitive topics? How to protect your own boundaries, as well as those of your male patients?
Topics covered include:
- Anatomy and physiology review of the male reproductive, urological, anorectal and neuromusculoskeletal systems;
- Understanding male pelvic pain: assessment, differential diagnoses and treatment strategies
- Pelvic pain and dysfunction in the male athlete: from pudendal neuralgia to proximal hamstring tendinopathy
- Differential diagnoses of ‘groin pain’: from adductors to hernias and pelvic floor dysfunction
- Pre and Post Prostatectomy Rehab strategies: short, medium and long term strategies for living well
- Communication skills and patient compliance – incorporating a biopsychosocial approach
To be determined
Registration begins on the first day 30 minutes prior to the start time.

The Male Pelvic Health Masterclass was PACKED FULL of information! There was a lot of great supportive research interwoven to all topics discussed. I feel like it gave me more tools and knowledge to confidently expand my practice to include male patients. Michelle is an extremely knowledgeable, dynamic, engaging and entertaining speaker!

The Male Pelvic Health Masterclass taught by Michelle Lyons allowed me to gain confidence in my ability to treat male pelvic patients. I had already taken another male specific pelvic course prior to this and thankfully both were excellent and at the same time, not redundant. I felt that I received very concrete treatment and assessment information so that I could go back and be able to educate and treat my patients with higher quality. It is a privilege to have such an internationally recognized instructor to come and teach us in Canada. This course allowed me to feel more solid in treating male pelvic patients and enhanced my pelvic and my 20 year orthopedic practice. If you are treating male pelvic patients, I would recommend this course.

The Male Pelvic Health Masterclass is a great course that helped me feel confident in treating males. I continue to use the lecture notes as a resource to help me guide my practice and feel I can offer a lot of reassurance and evidence informed information for my pre and post prostatectomy patients. Michelle Lyons is a captivating and informative lecturer and highly recommend any course she teaches.
