Course Description:
In this course, the participants will learn to integrate manual physical therapy, pain science education, health coaching, and nutrition therapy for patients with complex pelvic pain conditions including endometriosis.
Course Objectives:
1. The participants will demonstrate how to integrative mindfulness practices, and questions about stress, sleep, nutrition, movement, and support networks into a history for a woman with chronic pelvic pain.
2. The participants will demonstrate explaining the relationship of the biopsychosocial stress load on the brain and the experience of pain for patients with chronic pelvic pain.
3. The participants will demonstrate a simple physical therapy pelvic floor assessment of pelvic, hip, and lower abdominal tightness, lack of mobility, and nervous system hypervigilance.
4. The participants will understand the relationships between digestive dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, autoimmune factors, and inflammation on pelvic pain, and nutritional therapies to improve the functioning of these systems in women with pelvic pain.
5. The participants will understand the current state of knowledge about the possible causes of endometriosis and nutrition therapies and supplements that may be useful to relieve the symptoms of endometriosis.
6. The participants will discuss the risks and benefits of hormonal and non-hormonal birth control methods for women with pelvic pain.
7. The participants will discuss options for relieving chronic pelvic pain using stress balancing strategies, psychosocial support networks, and vagus nerve toning.
8.The participants will demonstrate manual therapy and home stretching and mobilization programs for women with tight and hypomobile pelvic floor muscles and fasica.
9. The participants will demonstrate communication strategies – including discussing position, lubrication, etc. – for helping clients to transition back to healthy and enjoyable sex in the course of her pelvic pain recovery.
Prerequisites: Level I (or equivalent to be approved)
Audience: This course is open to physiotherapists, nurses, doctors, midwives, and naturopathic doctors.

Saturday 8:30am-5:30/6:00pm
Sunday 8:00am-4:00pm
Registration begins on the first day 15 minutes prior to the start time.
