Instructor:

Julie Wiebe, PT has over twenty years of clinical experience in both Sports Medicine and Women’s Health. Following her passion to revolutionize the way women recover from pregnancy and return to high levels of fitness, she has pioneered an integrative approach to promote women’s health in and through fitness.

Her Diaphragm/Pelvic Floor Piston Science concepts have been successfully incorporated by rehab practitioners and fitness professionals into a variety of populations. A published author, Julie is a sought after speaker to provide continuing education and lectures internationally at clinics, academic institutions, conferences and professional organizations.

Julie maintains a clinical practice in Los Angeles and shares her approach for post pregnancy and pelvic health recovery and return to fitness with women worldwide through online courses.

When not trying to change the world one pelvic floor at a time, Julie is happy to focus on her first passions: being mom to the Z’s (Zoe and Zack), and wife to David.

Julie Wiebe Part 2 March 2018

Time to dig deeper. The Diaphragm/Pelvic Floor Piston for Adult Populations: Part One (aka The Piston Science Series online) provided a foundational framework to guide patients towards creating an inside-out strategy of dynamic stability by balancing muscular relationships and pressure systems with a whole lot of brainwork and motor control. The goal: to address pelvic health, musculoskeletal and performance issues simultaneously.

Now let’s take the next step and explore how to apply the ideas more specifically into different patient populations. Piston Science: Part Two will explore clinical decision making in real time with 2-patients over 2-days. We will collectively participate in patient interviewing, assessment and generation of treatment ideas, treatment planning and progressions, and developing cueing options. Grow your clinical “theology” by critically thinking through guiding clinical questions: What’s your goal? What’s their goal? How do you treat the why and who, not the what? What are the limits of your theology? When do you refer out? The cases will be selected by the hosts, so it will be a bit like a box of chocolates, “you never know what you’re gonna get” (i.e., no guarantee of diagnoses to be covered). If you are local you can also suggest a patient. However, the goal will be that the selected patients will have a variety of pelvic health (incontinence, prolapse), post-pregnancy (diastasis, pain) issues and fitness goals (running, crossfit). Come and be ready to think and participate.

Objectives: Following completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1.  Develop clinical decision making skills to form a “theology” for care based in critical thinking that guides patient interview, assessment and treatment progressions.

2.  Apply Piston Science concepts into multiple patient populations.

3.  Learn to live in the grey area of “it depends”!

Prerequisites:

You must have completed either the live or online version of Part One (Diaphragm/Pelvic Floor Piston for Adult Populations) at least 3 months prior to participating with effort towards implementing the concepts.
