Marie-Josée Forget, BScPT, Cert. MDT, has 18 years of clinical experience as a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. She graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1995 and began pursuing post-graduate studies in Pelvic Health in Canada and the USA in 1997 (see list below). MJ regularly attends international conferences and courses related to pelvic health, allowing her to stay current on relevant research.
MJ enjoys public speaking in her community and throughout the North. She provides continuing education for physicians, nurse practitioners and other health practitioners and has been a regular speaker at the Physio North conference. She is a preceptor for medical students with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
She was honoured when asked to join Pelvic Health Solutions as an Associate Instructor since 2011 and currently teaches the Non-Internal Introductory Pelvic Floor Courses and the Level I, II, IV courses. She had the pleasure of speaking at her first International conference, in February 2015, for the Combined Section Meeting of the APTA with her teaching colleague, Carolyn Vandyken.
MJ has developed a hand-drawn female and male pelvic floor model that is being used as a teaching tool allowing physiotherapists to learn the anatomy and proper palpation of the pelvic floor muscles. Her pelvic models can be purchased on her website www.totalpelvichealth.ca.
Marie-Josée co-owns Gateway Physiotherapy Center in North Bay and operates a satellite pelvic health clinic in New Liskeard. You can follow her on twitter at @gatewaypt
